Kristine Pringle Blog     About Kris
Hi there! Welcome to my blog. Other than photography, writing has always been a passion of mine. I regularly keep a journal, I'm known for my extra long emails, and yes, I even wrote a dissertation. Go Penn State! So, as Kristine Pringle Photography began to grow, it seemed only natural to retire the paper journal and begin this online adventure. I will use this site for posting pictures and stories from weddings and other photo shoots, and also for sharing personal pictures of the people and places I love. To my super cool clients, I am truly honored that you chose me to capture your memories. I hope that you enjoy the sneak peek of your photos. To my prospective clients, hopefully this will give you a little taste of what it’s like to work with me, and the kind of images you can expect. Thanks for stopping by! ~Kristine **PS - to view exclusively weddings, engagement sessions, or lifestyle photography, use the "categories" link above.

Heather: Maternity
01.26.12

If you read my blog then you know that I've been doing a LOT of maternity sessions lately....and more are coming! I don't know if that's because more and more women are choosing to document their pregnancies (which I think is awesome), or because I've kind of developed a new niche that my husband calls "just normal, not awkward preggo shots", but either way, I LOVE IT!

When I first started doing maternity sessions, I promised myself that I would stick to my "normal" style of shooting. I wanted them to have that "magazine look" my clients love. I wanted them to include Dad and the older siblings or pets. I wanted them to be modern and fun. Mostly though, I just wanted them to be REAL. Think less 'woman wrapped in sheet gazing out window with hands on belly' and more 'woman in real clothes laughing at her husband'. I think a huge part of the reason my clients have so much fun during a session is because it isn't "awkward". It feels like every day life.

Heather and Ryan's maternity session is the perfect example of this. Heather is my cousin (well, technically she is my husband's 1st cousin but now she is both of ours!), and I'm so excited to share some of my favorites from her "normal" maternity session. Enjoy the realness!

Heather. One gorgeous mama!

A favorite. This session was about Heather and her bump...

But also about capturing their sweet daughter Kate, who just turned 2. What a beauty!

Newborn...

1 year...

2 years. It is so fun when you can do the "same" shot 3 years in a row. This one I/we like to call "the blurry parents".

Wow how much babies change in those first 2 years. I think these need to be framed like this.

A maternity session with a can phone! "Ummm, what do you want me to do with this?"

Daddy happily demonstrated.

And Kate thought it was so much fun.

Perfection.

Kate was very excited to meet baby brother Fisher.

Once we got a few shots with Mommy...

And Daddy...

And baby...

I just captured Kate being Kate.

These are those precious 2-year old moments parents want to remember.

Whenever she looked at me, I got some portraits...

And even some eyelashes.

I love eyelash shots in black & white, but I couldn't resist those strawberry blond lashes, and the blue of her dress against the green grass. Love.

A few more of Heather.

Always a natural beauty. Even more so when anticipating a miracle!

I love the laid back, rustic feel of this belly shot.

Have to end with this one. Favorite photos are all about expressions and this is just perfect.

But then again, so is this!

Heather and Ryan, and sweet little Kate too -- congratulations on your newest addition Fisher! We cannot wait to meet him! And thank you once again for asking me to do photos of your precious family. It is always a blast. Love, Kris

Monica + Chris Wedding Preview
01.21.12

On Saturday December 17th, my associate photographer Jessica and I photographed Monica and Chris's wedding. I love a Christmas time wedding. Their details -- in shades of red and gold -- were just perfect for the season, and everything was just so personalized and classy.

So excited to share some favorites as I finish up the editing. Here is the story of their day as told through our lenses. Enjoy!

We showed up to find the beautiful Monica getting her make-up done.

And dresses hung on personalized hangers.

Gorg.

You know it's going to be a great last wedding of the year when you are greeted by Jimmy Choos...

Flowers by the talented Holly Chapple...

And a totally stunning bride!

I loved her long veil and her black bolero.

The handsome groom.

Monica and Chris did a "first look"...Chris could not wait to see her.

Such anticipation...

Such joy.

Love this.

Monica gave Chris one of his favorite things -- ketchup. :)

But not just any ketchup -- one that was personalized for their wedding day.

We did a few relaxed portraits...

It was cold...

So these 2 hugged tight. Timeless with a modern twist...uncluttered with a candid feel.

These are my favorite type of portraits.

Couldn't get enough of the flowers...

So of course I thought we needed a ring shot in them.

Ceremony time.

For Monica's mom Annie...

Who was smiling down from Heaven.

It was a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony.

Sealed with a kiss!

Seeing double?! That's because Monica is an identical twin. I so adore them both!

Seeing double again?! That's because Chris is also an identical twin. How cool!

Monica knew she wanted a second photographer because of the different angles she would get. I coached Jessica to do this (meaning shooting from the side when I was straight on) and she totally nailed it.

Proof that a simple, 'posed' shot of your wedding party can be such a treasure.

My angle.

Jessica's angle.

Still can't get over how cute this is!

The kids were rewarded with mac and cheese sliders. Yes, Monica and Chris thought of everything.

The Bethesda Country Club...cold outside.

Warm inside.

A few details...

Everyone at your wedding is family -- what an awesome idea!

The grand entrance, basketball style.

A few of the first dance...

They took dance lessons and totally rocked it. I think Monica was proud - so cute!

Jessica gave a sweet toast...

And there was a cupcake cake.

Seriously loved the details. I had to collage a few.

Yum.

The night ended with LOTS of dancing.

Father of the groom -- love it! So much fun was had by all!

Monica and Chris, we are so grateful to have been able to document your wedding day. Thank you (and your twinnies!) for being so much fun and for making us feel so welcome. We hope you love the little preview -- tons more coming soon! Hugs! ~Kristine and Jessica

Jenn: Maternity
01.14.12

Jenn took one of my photography workshops last spring, and afterwards she kept saying how she couldn't wait to do a family session. I couldn't wait either -- I adored her the second I met her! A few months later, Jenn found out she was expecting her 2nd child, and she hired me to do a maternity session for her and her beautiful family.

Jenn had left a few comments on my Facebook Page, so I knew exactly what she liked. Even though it was December and it was COLD, I knew that we had to do a bunch of outdoor shots, that we had to get a silhouette, and that we definitely needed to get a few "hot mama" pictures. As one of my best friends once said, "Pregnancy is sexy. Who wouldn't want to capture that!?" And I know that Jenn's husband Jason will agree. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

Jenn = 31 weeks pregnant = glowing Mommy!

In Jenn's belly is their daughter Vivienne, and they cannot wait to meet her.

Christian is so excited to be a big brother. Could he be any cuter!?!!

The hat, the Uggs, so precious!

Love this!

I found myself capturing this family as I approach a wedding -- details, moments, and portraits. I really love capturing "baby details"...like Christian's sweet little curls...

And his gorgeous eyelashes.

A favorite portrait with Mommy...

A fave with Daddy.

And hands down my favorite moment. Christian just turned 2, and he wowed us with his smiles and how he touched Mommy's belly.

Then it was my chance to wow them. Jenn has been wanting a silhouette like this since seeing some others that I posted. I hope she is smiling right now. :)

Then it was Mother Nature's turn to wow all of us! After about an hour outside, we went inside and I focused on Jenn for a little bit.

Her husband convinced her to do a few "hot mama" shots and I know she'll be so glad he did.

Jenn, you are so stunning! Jason wasn't in the room when we did these, but occasionally he would peek in and he would say, you guessed it, "WOW!"

Love the pink scarf for Vivienne.

Jenn and Jason, I am so happy for your family!

Thank you for asking me to document this truly special time in your lives and I can't wait to see you all again -- and meet Vivienne -- soon! Hugs! ~Kristine

Baby Love!
01.10.12

I think we'd all agree...the words "baby" and "love" just go together. There is so much to love about babies. Especially these 2 girls -- man are they cute! Between Abby's curls and Olivia biting her toes, my heart definitely skipped a beat. I first photographed these 2 sisters during Olivia's newborn session. Olivia was 10 days old and Abby had just turned 2. Fast forward 6 months, and we have this most recent session. I'm so glad that Sarah and Jason asked me to come back to capture their precious girls as they grow. Here are a few favorites as I'm editing. Enjoy!

This was taken over the summer. Olivia at 10 days old. PRECIOUS!!!

And here she is now at 6 months. Even more precious!

This is Olivia's beautiful big sister Abby. I am in love with her curls!

At the beginning of the session, I focused on the girls...

I was able to capture a bunch of shots of them individually...love this!

I got their sweet profiles...

But I had yet to get a good shot of them TOGETHER. Then I eyed my small basket.

How do you get a 2-year old to sit so closely to her 6-month old baby sister AND kiss her?? You put them in the small basket TOGETHER and then reward her with a lollipop. :)

Beautiful family! I adore this portrait and think all my clients should have one like this. Meaning with everyone looking at the camera.

Though I also want my clients to have one like this -- meaning just caught in a moment.

I love capturing the way you can make her giggle when you turn her upside down.

Or the way she can make you giggle when she tries to kiss your nose. Every day "ordinary" moments are often my favorite.

Once inside, I focused on Olivia for a little bit. It was "unofficially" her 6-month session, so I made sure to capture some images that really show her personality.

And if these next 2 don't capture it I don't know what does.

One of my favorite baby images ever. Eyelashes, toes and chub in one shot -- LOVE it.

Who is (was) excited for Christmas?

Abby! Look at that smile!

At the end we did some pictures in their Christmas dresses. Olivia's first Christmas = so special.

Does it get any sweeter?

Sarah and Jason, thanks for asking me to come back for updated pictures as your girls grow. It is so much fun to "work" with your awesome Hokie family! Hugs! ~Kris

Maren: Newborn
01.05.12

New year, new parents, new baby -- I like new! Especially when new includes an old friend from college. I went to Virginia Tech with both Lisa and Scott, and though I didn't know them too well, they saw photos I had done for some other mutual friends on my Facebook page, and voila! They booked me to do a newborn photo session for their precious new baby girl, Maren. I was really glad to reconnect with these two -- they are just awesome and so fun to be around. I am so happy for them, and I'm so excited to share a few favorites from our afternoon together at their beautiful home. Enjoy!

Meet 7-day old Maren. She is just gorgeous.

But it's easy to see where she gets it -- look at her beautiful Mommy...

And her handsome Daddy!

One with her adorable "big sister". LOVE!

In the beginning, I focused on getting some images of Maren by herself.

We did some with "sassy pants"...

Some in hats...

And some in nothing at all. Lisa and I agreed that newborns are best photographed "as is". The result is so angelic.

A different angle. I love newborn baby wrinkles.

And feet.

Next we moved on to some images with Mommy and Daddy.

Lisa, you look so peaceful and natural. Just beautiful.

Totally adore this one of Daddy and his sweet baby girl.

And this one of Maren's yawn.

And this one of her nursery! Gorgeous! I want to borrow this color scheme for my own girls!

At the very end of the session, we took a few pictures in their foyer. I loved the light coming in their front doors. And I just love how small Maren looks in these!

One of the whole family. Scott and Lisa, congratulations on your precious little Maren! I am so happy for you and so glad I could document these fleeting newborn moments. XOXO ~Kris

Lisa and Scott McElhaney   |   01.05.12   |   Kris, THANK YOU so much for these beautiful images! We are so glad you were able to come document our little Maren at just 7 days old! The photos are instant treasures! I especially ADORE the black and white ones of me holding her close - it makes me tear up as all the emotions/thoughts of the last 8 weeks I've spent holding her like this just spring up - thinking how precious she is and how blessed we are, smelling her "baby" smell and just wanting to "freeze" the moment... and I think you did
Kris Pringle   |   01.06.12   |   Awwww, Lisa and Scott, thank YOU! Maren is a doll and you certainly are blessed. Thank you for articulating exactly what I love doing -- I'm so happy I could "freeze" these sweet memories for you.

Giuliana: Newborn
12.31.11

Isabel and Jerry are the most adorable new parents, and their sweet baby girl Giuliana, well, can I just say DOLLBABY?!?! What a little angel! I first met Isabel and Jerry when I did some maternity pictures for them, and no pun intended, but we just clicked immediately. Isabel commented on how "easy and relaxed" the session was, and that made me smile. I assured her that the newborn session would be even more relaxed -- basically one big snugglefest -- and it was just that. There is nothing better than wrapping up a year with the BEST present ever. Here are a few favorites. Enjoy!

Last fall during their maternity session. Before....

And after. So so sweet.

So much anticipation...

So much joy!

There is a whole series of these Mommy-Daughter shots and I totally adore them!

Gotta love Etsy hats! And what a perfect little model!

She has her Mommy's gorgeous hair.

Lucky little girl!

A favorite.

"Yes, I escaped the swaddle!" ;-)

Proud Daddy.

Love this!

Such a beautiful family!

Another favorite.

It was a warm November day, so we went outside for a few minutes.

I wasn't kidding when I said dollbaby. She is just stunning!

Tiny hands.

That's a wrap folks! It's hard work looking so cute!

Isabel and Jerry, I am so happy for you both! Congratulations and Happy New Year! ~Kristine

Madelyn: Newborn
12.29.11

Last month I had the chance to do three newborn sessions for three PRECIOUS little girls. The first was for my beautiful friend Jenne. She and I went to high school together, and we were roommates our freshman year at Virginia Tech. A year together in a dorm room bonds you for life, this I know. After all these years, Jenne and I are now both living back "home", in the same town we went to high school in, and I am thrilled about that. Playdates are on the agenda, but first, I got to be her photographer. It's always an honor when a friend trusts you with her most precious memories, and I am so excited to share a few favorites of Jenne and John's perfect little miracle, Madelyn. Enjoy!

I thought I'd start with a favorite or two from Jenne's maternity session.

Dylan was sooooooo excited to meet his baby sister.

Madelyn. Just gorgeous.

Dylan did so great for the maternity photos, so I was really hoping we'd have a repeat performance for this newborn shoot. :)

Well, can I just say "out of the ballpark??" He is the sweetest little boy, and he is so obviously in love with Madelyn.

I still can't get over these shots.

I mean, for real. Happiness defined.

Jenne, you are stunning as always. A true glowing mommy.

Daddy's little princess.

Beautiful, sweet family!

Just adore them.

What a beauty!

They have everything they need this holiday season.

And I am so happy for them.

While Madelyn took a break to eat, I got a few shots of her beautiful nursery. Love it!

And since things were going so well, we tried to get one last shot in their stocking hats. So so cute!

Wow. So much love.

Jenne, John and big brother Dylan -- congratulations! Thank you for the privilege of doing these photos. I hope you love them as much as I do! With love, Kris

Alex & Tommy's Wedding
12.23.11

On Saturday November 5th, I photographed Alex & Tommy's wedding at the gorgeous Whitehall Manor in Northern Virginia, just west of Leesburg. This was an AMAZING wedding. First of all, the bride and groom (and their families and friends) are two of the nicest and most down to earth people you could ever meet. It may have been COLD outside, but inside it felt WARM all around.

Second, they are high school sweethearts who have been together nearly a decade, and upon meeting them for their engagement pictures in the fall of 2010, I totally adored them. Then I found out they are both HOKIES, and not only that, but Alex was a Tri Delt and Tommy was a Sigma Chi. For those who don't know, my bachelor's is from VT, and I was also a Tri Delt. It's crazy how a sorority can bond complete strangers, but it does. As Alex and I communicated via email or Facebook about the big day, we signed our emails, "DL" for Delta Love.

Alex & Tommy's wedding day may have come and gone, but I'm certain that I have new friends, and I'm honored to have been able to document this most happiest day for them. Here are a few favorites as I finish editing their entire set of images. Enjoy!

I showed up at Alex's parents' home to find the beautiful bride getting ready.

Her stunning gown.

And the girls helping her get into it.

The moment her Dad first saw her was really sweet.

It had everyone crying, then laughing.

Gorgeous. Just perfect.

Alex's bouquet.

The stem had photos of special family members who Alex keeps close to her heart.

The handsome groom.

Time to get married!

As I was photographing the programs, I saw a ladybug. It doesn't get much luckier!

Love this.

So much anticipation.

Alex shed a few tears as she walked down the aisle.

I made sure to capture Tommy's expressions too.

As the mother of 2 little girls myself, I can only imagine what this moment feels like.

And there she goes.

The wedding ceremony was beautiful.

The rings.

Peace. I totally adore the groom's family too - I got to know them when I photographed Tommy's sister's wedding in July.

Married!

Portrait time. Are these ladies lovely or what!?!

So cute.

The boys.

LOVED the "BM" patches inside their jackets.

From the movie "You, Me and Dupree"

Classic. Their wedding party was so awesome.

I mean, they got inside a barn.

Need I say more??

A & T

We wandered around the property finding neat places for photos...

We practiced this during their engagement session - LOVE!

Reception time. A few details.

What a great idea!

This will make a great coffee table centerpiece.

This is part of their grand entrance.

The first dance.

While guests ate dinner...

I froze to get this shot at night. Worth it - always!

There were wonderful toasts.

Followed by the cake cutting - yes, those are Hokie Birds!

THREE beautiful Kristine Pringle brides. Alicia + Jeremy = July 2011, Alex + Tommy = November 2011, and Lindsay + Andy = June 2012. This is the perfect example of why I don't advertise and instead rely on word of mouth (plus blogging and Facebook).

You know it's a great wedding when you get dance floor photos like this!

Sometimes I "zoom" my lens while taking the photo to get a motion effect.

There's that dip again!

And a sparkler exit.

A & T, thank you & congratulations! I wish you so much happiness as you start this next chapter as husband & wife! DL ~K

Full Circle
12.20.11

Five years ago I photographed her wedding. You know that gorgeous bride that you see when you click on my main website -- it's hard to believe that was 2006.

Fast forward to 2011, and I got to photograph their beautiful family! My business has come full circle, and I owe so much of that to them.

Their little girl, who is almost 3, is a total dollbaby.

Mom is a photographer, and this child definitely knows how to work the camera!

I had never met her before, but let me say that I just LOVE her!

I love how when she gets thrown in the air she does this little twist thing.

It is so cute.

Gorgeous!

Perfect. And how I loved their outfit choices!

Mommy said she was excited to see how I would capture her little one.

I can't choose a favorite of her - they all melt my heart!

Though I really do love this one.

Daddy's girl.

Five years of marriage. You two are so blessed.

Outfit number 2.

My favorite portrait of Mommy and her girl. When she saw these yesterday, she told me this was the best gift ever.

That makes me so happy.

It's a huge reason why I love what I do.

Capturing families just being themselves is so rewarding.

Reminder, she is 2. LOVE!

She had a good time climbing on the boats.

And sitting on them.

Precious.

I wanted to get some more candids...and I knew this was a good way to do it.

A favorite.

Such love!

One for the playroom!

I could post and post and post...

But I'll stop and just say thank you. I am so grateful for the many opportunities that this family has brought my way. XOXOXO

Happy 2nd Birthday to Our Daughter Emme
12.16.11

Today our baby turns 2. Our sweet little Emme, who we welcomed into the world during the blizzard of 2009, is now two. It hardly seems possible.

Emme is such a miracle, and she has blessed our lives in ways we could have never imagined. She is our little athlete, and she loves to learn and talk talk talk. Just like her Mama! And her big sister. Scott and I are completely in awe of her, and we wanted to share a few photos that sum up who she is at this very moment.

Emme Ann Pringle. 7 pounds 8 ounces. This is how I still think of you.

My sweet little tiny baby who liked to sleep on my chest. Actually, you still do and that just melts me, even if I don't get much sleep at night.

As much as you are still a baby, you are getting so big. You love to get "horsey rides". (thanks to my intern Jocelyn for this amazing photo and the one at the end too!)

You melted Daddy's heart from day 1...

And your sweet little laugh still does. Even more.

How you go from this...

To this...

To this is just beyond me.

It really seems like yesterday that I first fell in love with you.

And now I love you so much more, my little jumping bean.

This year, you and Elsa played indoor soccer. You are SO good!

You love to climb. On everything. It keeps me on my toes.

And if you're not climbing, you're jumping. No wonder they call you Nadia Comaneci.

This fall you started school. You are doing so great and learning so much.

You're learning your letters...

And soon you'll be a "Super Reader"...

Just like your big sister.

Emme you are beautiful.

And you have such a zest for life.

You remind me to enjoy the simple things.

Thank you for that.

You also remind me that anything is possible. Ride a dinosaur - why not!?!

And that all you need is love. You LOVE animals.

Santa, not so much. Only from a distance.

The snowman had you smiling again.

Happy birthday baby girl!

You completed our family and we are so thankful. Love, Mommy and Daddy
