Kristine Pringle Blog     About Kris
Hi there! Welcome to my blog. Other than photography, writing has always been a passion of mine. I regularly keep a journal, I'm known for my extra long emails, and yes, I even wrote a dissertation. Go Penn State! So, as Pringle Photography began to grow, it seemed only natural to retire the paper journal and begin this online adventure. I will use this site for posting pictures and stories from weddings and other photo shoots, and also for sharing personal pictures of the people and places we love. To our super cool clients, Scott and I are truly honored that you chose us to capture your memories. We hope that you enjoy the sneak peek of your photos. To our prospective clients, hopefully this will give you a little taste of what it’s like to work with us, and the kind of images you can expect. Thanks for stopping by! ~Kristine **PS - to view exclusively weddings, engagement sessions, or lifestyle photography, use the "categories" link above.

Girls Weekend 2010: Eat Play Love
08.16.10

I just returned from a wonderful weekend in Virginia Beach with my closest girlfriends from college. I have known these girls for over a decade, and I am so lucky to have them in my life. A couple years after we graduated, we decided we needed a weekend away for just the girls -- and the tradition has continued. This is the 7th year we have done this and I must say that it's pretty impressive that 10 of us made it -- especially considering that we have 16.5 children between us all. As our families continue to grow, it is certainly more logistically challenging to get away, and I love that my friends make spending time together a priority. These are truly special women.

We started our Saturday with a little oceanfront yoga.

And then we spent the afternoon on the beach. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day - it was only in the 80s!

A little pool time silliness with my underwater cam...

And then it was time to Eat...

Play...

Love.

It was a weekend of telling old stories, lots of laughter...

...and of course, lots of pictures.

I have the best job in the world. On a sidenote, as I was taking pictures on our boat cruise, my friend Amanda secretly grabbed another camera out of my bag and started taking "behind the scenes" shots of me with the camera, knowing that I would love having them. These are the kind of friends I have. Beyond thoughtful.

On another side note, while I was away, Elsa introduced Emme to puffs by pouring the whole container on her tray. Elsa loved it and Emme didn't know what to think. Thanks to my husband and family for watching the girls (and to all the husbands and grandparents who pitched in) so that we could have a little retreat.

It was truly the best weekend, and I can't wait to do it again next year. To my girlfriends, I love you and I hope this post makes it easier to get through the rest of your Monday. To everyone who couldn't make it this year, we missed you bunches! Special congrats to Kim on her new baby boy Trent, born on August 11th. XOXOXOXOX

Kris Pringle   |   08.22.10   |   Thanks so much girls! I love reading your blog comments -- and it was so nice to see those from Jenny and Wendy, who I haven't seen in forever! We were actually all talking about how we need a BIG Tri Delt reunion at VT again. Maybe in the spring?? It would be so fun!
Brenda   |   08.22.10   |   That looks like so much fun! On a side note, what lens are you using there on our camera (5D Mark II, I assume?)?
Kris Pringle   |   08.23.10   |   Hey Brenda! I was mostly using my 85 mm f/1.2L - my favorite lens, but when I needed to get wider (since the 85 is a prime) I used my 28-70 mm f/2.8L. And yes, the 5D Mark II. :-)

Where Have I Been???
08.01.10

I know, I know -- I normally blog a few times a week, and I took a 2 week break without notice. So what have I been up to? Well, I had a few shoots get cancelled due to (1) Heat - who wants to be outside, much less trying to get nice photos, when the heat index is 110?!?; and (2) Rain. These have been rescheduled over the next few weeks. I had another shoot this morning that I thought was going to get rained out, but thankfully it didn't and I can't wait to share. I also photographed an INCREDIBLE wedding on July 24th, so stay tuned for these blogs real soon. I'm working on them now.

Anyway, since I had a little downtime the past 2 weeks and now that my NEW WEBSITE is live (hooray!!!), I have been catching up on editing, album designs, booking weddings for 2011, laundry, booking lifestyle sessions for fall (my calendar is getting FULL so give me a shout soon, especially if you want a weekend), more laundry, and most importantly, enjoying time with my wonderful husband, our two baby girls, and my family.

These are what the past few days have looked like around here. Trust me, we had our share of the normal crying moments too, but the laughter is way more fun to photograph. ;-)

I just posted a blog of Emme, and already she has new teeth. They really don't stay babies too long....

I was especially reminded of this when I took this photo of Elsa yesterday.

This is her at 2 months old when she first found her thumby, almost exactly 2 years ago to the day.

Elsa, it is so fun to watch you grow. It's amazing to see these photos side by side, and to see how your eye color has changed from the deep blue you had as a newborn to the EXACT color of Daddy's. But...please don't grow up too fast. Please stay our baby a little bit longer. Love, Mommy and Daddy

Check back soon for lots more blogs! XOXO ~Kris

Our Daughter Emme: 7 Months
07.18.10

Our second-born daughter Emme Ann just turned 7 months old. I know I've said it before, but I really can't believe how fast time flies. Soon it will be Christmas and she'll be turning one. It's been busy around here with lots of lifestyle sessions and weddings, but I finally have a little breather before my next wedding coming up on 7/24 so I am sharing some of my favorite Emme pictures taken over the past few weeks. Scott and I are so blessed and we just can't get enough of her.

Emme is so easy-going and happy. I plop her in the grass naked in 100 degree weather, and what does she do?? Instantly smiles and turns around for Mommy. :-)

She is so petite, but a little chunker at the same time. I feel so lucky that I'm able to freeze these memories with my camera...
Charlottesville Children's Photography

Because Emme is on the move, crawling all over the place, so soon those adorable baby fat rolls will be gone.
Charlottesville Children's Photography

This is how she looks when she laughs...
Charlottesville Baby Photography

Which she does a LOT of thanks to big sister Elsa. I can hear her now, "Tickle tickle Emme." It melts me.
Charlottesville Baby Photography

And this is her newest trick, waving hi.
Charlottesville Baby Photographer

This is an Emme face and pose we see often. The foot grab and pouty lip.
Charlottesville Baby Photographer

See, different day, same lip. Love love love.

Emme loves the water, just like her big sis. It doesn't matter whether it's the baby pool in the yard or the big pool in our neighborhood.
Charlottesville Baby Photographer

Watching these two become best friends before my eyes is the best feeling in the world.

And I'm so thankful for them every day. Thanks to everyone who asked to see pictures of our girls which forced me to get a few edited. Now I can frame some recent ones in our house, including this one for their bathroom.

Grammie   |   07.18.10   |   How adorable. Emme always makes me crack up when she just splashes herself in the pool and laughs about it then does it again. So cute. What a great photo of the 2 girls wrapped in their pottery barn towels. Love you, Grammie
Grandma   |   07.18.10   |   When Elsa plays "tickle tickle Emme" their laughter is contagious, it is so precious. I'm one lucky Grandma - love you both.

My TV Interview on the Evening News
07.08.10

On Tuesday night, The Charlottesville Newsplex had me as a guest on the 6 pm evening news for the "Charlottesville Plugged In" segment with Amy Eastlack of Suzy Said Cville. I got to talk about the July 4th event that I photographed, as well as blogging and how it has changed the industry for photographers.

The Charlottesville Newsplex

I had never been on the news before, and it was so fun being in the newsroom and seeing how it all happens. There were so many cameras on me, and I wasn't sure which one to look at (as you will see if you watch the video), but overall I think it went well and I'm so thankful for the amazing opportunity.

To see the entire 4-minute interview, click on the link below.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, I have a brand new website. I feel like that deserves it's very own blog post, but I can't say that and not share the link, so here it is:

www.kristinepringle.com

More wedding and family blogs coming really soon! Oh, and some of our 2 girls too for all those who have been asking. :-)

Happy 2nd Birthday to Our Daughter Elsa
05.29.10

Our older daughter Elsa turned 2 over the weekend, and we had the best time celebrating with her and our family and friends. Two years has flown by, and it has by far been the best (and busiest!) two years of our lives.

It's hard to believe in the blink of an eye we went from this...

To this. This photo was taken at Elsa's party in Pennsylvania 2 weeks ago.

Many thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Baker for making Elsa's day. All she wanted was her birthday cake and candles. :)

This photo was taken on Elsa's actual birthday, Saturday May 29th. I sometimes try to sit her down to capture some "relaxed portraits" of her...

But my favorites are always of Elsa being Elsa. She had the best time at her party.

She loved that she got more cake and candles...

And playing in the sprinkler was truly the icing on the cake.

She loved running around with her best friend, Alex.

And I could have taken her picture all day long. I don't know who had more fun - me or her??

Happy 2nd Birthday to our first born. You make us so happy and we are so proud to be your Mommy and Daddy! XOXO

Lyndell   |   06.01.10   |   Kristine, she is just adorable!! I LOVE the sprinkler pics of her!! So surprised and happy!! and my favorite is the princess tiara one w/the b-day cake!! It is hard to believe she's 2!!! Trust me I know time flies!!
Grammie   |   06.01.10   |   Seems like yesterday I looked at the first photo of Elsa small enough to fit in her dresser drawer. Elsa, I love you, you are so much fun to spend time with and your expressions melt my heart. Love you, Grammie
Kristi   |   06.02.10   |   HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELSA!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!
05.09.10

I am such a lucky Mom. God has blessed me with two healthy, happy, beautiful daughters, and I am completely in awe of them. Emme is 5 months...

...And Elsa will be 2 on May 29th. The moment I became a Mom was the happiest moment of my life, and I am trying to savor each and every day. This is just one of the many things I've learned from my Mom, the woman I owe the world but will never have to repay.

The woman who still comes over to take care of me when I'm sick, who brings my dirty laundry home so she doesn't "waste quality time" doing it while at my house, and who sends me home from a visit to her house with pre-cooked gourmet meals. My mom is the woman who can make her granddaughters laugh hysterically and who can so easily calm them when they're crying. She is also the woman who enjoys reading her daughter's blog, so I thought it would be nice to publicly thank her for being so amazing. Mom, thank you for always letting me know just how loved I am in only the ways that you know how. Thank you for never thinking of yourself first, for always having the time to help me with something, and for being the best Mom and Grammie ever! I love you, and so do Elsa and Emme! Happy Mother's Day!

My Girls: Uncut
04.27.10

I didn't mean to get this picture of our daughters, and that's why I love it. Believe me, I'm not one to dress the girls up for photos, but I would normally dress them in something better than their worn out pajamas. Actually, I think all of Elsa's PJs were dirty, so who knows what she is wearing. All I know is that it doesn't match and that hat hasn't come off since we went to the Outer Banks in March.

My camera happened to be laying on the counter when the girls were especially happy, and I grabbed this shot without trying. One frame. This is the only one I took. I don't ask my girls (or my clients) to say cheese because that is the best way to get the worst smiles. Instead I click the shutter realllllly fast, just like I did the other morning.

I have a gazillion blogs to do, and more will be coming later this week, but for everyone who has asked to see an updated photo of the girls, here ya go! Emme is 4 months and Elsa will be 2 in May. There are so many more cute ones, and as soon as I'm done blogging all of my marathon weekend shoots, I will edit and post more. Promise!

I love these girls more than anything in the world!

**Edited to add: Wow, I've received so many emails, blog comments, and Facebook posts/messages from friends and clients asking if they could purchase these. I love when I can support a good cause, but I need your help. I was recently asked to donate a few Pringle Photography landscapes to help raise funds for Concerns of Police Survivors, an organization that provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The donated images will be framed and bid on at a silent auction to be held in Richmond, Virginia.

Since I have no idea which image or images to donate, I'm counting on my blog readers for some help. Just leave a comment with the image number you like best, and thanks a million in advance for your feedback! Thanks also to my multi-talented husband Scott -- though a physical therapist by day, he has some mad photo skills too. He took about half of these...

Heather   |   04.19.10   |   My vote is 13 of course! Although I really like number 1 too. They are all beautiful I don't know how you will choose. xoxo, Heather
Ashley   |   04.19.10   |   11. Reminds me of creeks in Titusville area. But Kris, honestly, they are all amazingly beautiful. You will bring in some dough for any of them!!!
Andrea   |   04.19.10   |   Wow, stunning work. Couldn't pick a favorite. But if I must for a contest I'd say 4 and 8.
Amanda   |   04.19.10   |   Of course I like 6 and 10. Number 1 is still one of my all time favs. But I think most people would bid on 8 and 11 (the b&w of the clouds over the mtns, and the leaves on the rocks of the stream) (i've looked at the numbers for too long and can't keep them straight!) Great work as always!
Ron N   |   04.19.10   |   1 and 3 are my fav..but only if Ned did NOT take them...I don't want him to think he is good at anything
Mom B.   |   04.19.10   |   Tough decision, they are all so great but since I have to narrow it down, I'll pick 5, 11 & 14. Ask Elsa, she has always had an eye for art since she was a baby. OXOX
Shawna   |   04.19.10   |   I cannot decide...It's late at night and I think I'm going cross-eyed looking at them all. I'd love all of them for my own home!
Jenelle N   |   04.20.10   |   Oh Kris! They are beautiful!! Number 1 is my absolute favorite, but I think people would bid on 8 and 13. Tough choice though... they are all so great!
Julie Rockey   |   04.20.10   |   #3 because it reminds me of the engagement session you did for us and the friendship that started between us that day. #6 because I like to think I'm visionary and this simply states "The sky is the limit". "Dream Big". WIth that plain blue sky I think it says "The world is your canvas, go and paint all over it". I think this image has mass reproduction potential for corporate offices across the country. No matter which you pick, I think the Concerns of Police Survivors will be honore
Pamela   |   04.20.10   |   WOW!! That is all I can say. They are the most amazing and I can not decide. I want them all. Are you selling any? I really need photos for my kids room if you want to help me out :)
Maryanne Jouvenal   |   04.20.10   |   Love #10 but I'm partial to the ocean. Great cause you're supporting!
Addison   |   04.20.10   |   Oh my gosh - 13 without a doubt! I live near the ocean in CA and see people doing that ALL the time and love it! 13, 13, 13!!
Paige   |   04.21.10   |   Numbers 3 and 8 - but, they are beautiful
Michelle   |   04.21.10   |   Love #1, #8 and #11. I think 8 will go really well to a diverse audience at the auction. Let me know what your 'softy' price is ;) ...#1 will go great in our new house and will give me an excuse to tell everybody about you!!
Barbara   |   04.23.10   |   All of the pictures are beautiful! My favorites are #2, #10 and #13.
Lyndell   |   04.26.10   |   Ok they are ALL wonderful and beautiful!!! but I love #5...
Kristi Ondo   |   04.26.10   |   I LOVE #8 and want it for our house...I know just the spot! =)
Heather T   |   05.02.10   |   Wow, I couldn't possibly choose one or two...they are all amazing.

OBX

I just returned from a fabulous long weekend in the Outer Banks with my favorite girls -- my mom and my daughters Elsa and Emme. I was down there doing a newborn shoot (more on that coming soon), and we totally lucked out because we had the most gorgeous weather. If I didn't already, I now officially have summer-fever. And since it was only a month ago that I was posting snow photos, I thought it would be fun to post these beach images.

I love the Outer Banks, and now that I live in Virginia, I'm really hoping to get down there more.

I took these images last time I was down there...as in pre-kids.

..and as much as I loved getting up at the crack of dawn to photograph a sunrise...

I now have a much better reason to get up that early. This was Emme's first trip to the beach.

And believe it or not, it was Elsa's first time too. Watching her was so magical.

She absolutely LOVED it, so I have a feeling we'll be making many more trips there. Stay tuned for one of my favoritest newborn sessions. xoxo ~K

Addison   |   03.23.10   |   Way too cute! I live in California so I go to the beach often here, but I have to say, it can't compare to watching a toddler go to the beach for the first time! That's just wonderful, and, as always, gorgeous images : )
Jess, Viv, and Mark   |   03.23.10   |   Oh I miss the beach! So glad you gals got good weather and had a blast. Hope we can all go the next time.
Julie Rockey   |   03.23.10   |   While all of the images bring a smile to my heart, I absolutely LOVE the 1st image. I can see that hanging in offices across America with a caption: "The Sky Is the Limit". You definately found your calling, Mrs. P!

Lauren   |   03.24.10   |   Kristine, you should make a calendar with some of the landscape shots that you have taken. I love them. Especially these new OBX ones.
Grandma   |   03.24.10   |   Elsa & Emme have their own huge sand box. They are so adorable, can't wait to give them XXXOOO in two days. Love you all...
