Hi there! Welcome to my blog. Other than photography, writing has always been a passion of mine. I regularly keep a journal, I'm known for my extra long emails, and yes, I even wrote a dissertation. Go Penn State! So, as Pringle Photography began to grow, it seemed only natural to retire the paper journal and begin this online adventure. I will use this site for posting pictures and stories from weddings and other photo shoots, and also for sharing personal pictures of the people and places we love. To our super cool clients, Scott and I are truly honored that you chose us to capture your memories. We hope that you enjoy the sneak peek of your photos. To our prospective clients, hopefully this will give you a little taste of what it’s like to work with us, and the kind of images you can expect. Thanks for stopping by! ~Kristine **PS - to view exclusively weddings, engagement sessions, or lifestyle photography, use the "categories" link above.

Riverview Park with Kaden
09.03.10

Back on July 4th when I photographed the Newsplex celebration at McIntire Park, I gave away a free lifestyle photography session...and the winner was almost 2-year old Kaden and his parents, Toni and Darrell. When I emailed Toni to tell her that I drew her name, she was so excited, and we planned together to make sure we'd get amazing images of her little man. When I found out he was almost two, I suggested we go to Riverview Park. I had recently been there with my own 2-year old, and I kept thinking what a great spot it would be for a session with a toddler. I posted one preview picture earlier today, and Toni already left a comment saying she couldn't wait for the rest, so I should stop typing and share. Enjoy!
Meet Kaden. My goodness he is going to be a total heartbreaker. What gorgeous features he has! I adore this serious photo...but if you want to get a 2-year old to smile, what do you do??
You take him to the playground of course! Sweet sweet sweet!
First we tried the swings. He has the cutest laugh!
Adorable!
Then we headed to the river. I was so glad that Toni and Darrell were up for my idea of playing in the water...
Because I was able to get a ton of those candid images that Toni told me she loves so much.
Next Kaden got to play with his toy trucks.
I'm so glad they brought them along....because every time he'd look down, I was getting amazing eyelash shots.
No worries though, all it took was a little singing and I got this. One of my very favorites from the shoot.
And of course this fun family shot! Toni and Darrell, thanks for letting me spend a morning with you and your handsome little guy. It was fun getting to know you all, and I hope you love these as much as I do. Hugs! ~Kristine

Beautiful Blue-Eyed Family
08.04.10

What a beautiful blue-eyed baby and family! Amy is a friend of mine from college, and she and her husband Dave have a beautiful 7-month old daughter named Riley. These were their first professional photos, and I can't tell you what an honor that is for me. My job is so rewarding! We had been planning these for months, and thankfully everything went so super well. We had cooler weather for August, no rain (hooray!), and Riley was giving out the smiles left and right. I'm sure it has something to do with being a mom, but I seem to have that effect on babies. :-)
We did the shoot at two of my favorite places, first a local park right down the street from my house and then downtown Charlottesville. Riley took a cat nap in between spots and was such a trooper for our 2 hour session. This blog is really just the tip of the iceberg of all the great shots we got, but I hope that it gives them a little glimpse into what we captured and of what's to come. Amy and Dave, thanks a million for trusting me to document these memories for your family. xoxo
Riley is too stinkin cute with those BIG blue eyes and blonde hair. I adore this one of Amy holding her...
And equally cute is this one of Dave holding her. I love that you can see Amy sneaking up (making silly faces) in the foreground, and I didn't crop her out because it's what makes this photo become both a portrait and a great candid moment at the same time.
Love these lifestyle shots! I couldn't pick which I liked better so I posted them both.
Even though Riley had never been in a baby swing before, I suggested we try it. To say that she LOVED it would be a huge understatement.
There are a gazillion that I love on the swing, but here is just one for now. Daddy's little girl.
Then it was a cat nap and off to location #2 - downtown C'ville. Gorgeous gorgeous family shot! We had amazing soft light that day.
When I saw Amy's dress and heels, I couldn't resist a shot like this.
Or this. So so fun!
And so so sweet!
This is another favorite of mine. It's so modern, and I love the body language. There is so much love between these 3 and it was so awesome to capture that.
Dollbaby.
How can Daddy resist kissing those cheeks!?!! Riley was getting a little tired...so what did we do?!?!
We attempted one more outfit, and this is what we got. What a little ham!
To Amy, Dave, and Riley, thanks for traveling to C'ville for your session and for making it so much fun. I hope this little sneak peek is everything you hoped for. You are such a beautiful family, and I can't wait to share the rest! Lots of love! ~Kris

July 4th at McIntire Park
07.05.10

Last night I covered the July 4th celebration and fireworks at McIntire Park here in Charlottesville. At the risk of sounding extremely corny, I must say that it was an absolute blast! ;-) The Charlottesville Newsplex asked me to provide documentary coverage of all the festivities, but most importantly the kids having fun and the beautiful fireworks.
I'm sharing some of my favorite images on the blog, along with a SLIDESHOW, but if you are interested in seeing them all, they are online at the following link (by Tuesday morning July 6th):
www.pictage.com/852530
Many thanks to Brad Ramsey and the Charlottesville Newsplex for asking me to be there, to my husband Scott for helping me out with the fireworks photos, to my family for watching our 2 daughters during the event, and to all the men and women who serve our country to protect our freedom. God bless the USA.
It was a perfect day for an Independence Day celebration -- not a cloud in the sky!
I had never seen fireworks being set up before. Wow.
You know you're at a Newsplex event when there are lots of balloons for the kids.
And they were definitely a hit. Love how this pretty little girl tied them all to her scooter.
This adorable little guy could throw the ball 40 miles per hour. SO cute!
There were several live bands that played through the night.
And that was really entertaining for the kids and adults alike. Love the smile.
Yes, the smiles were everywhere -- so contagious. Seeing the kids' faces was really magical.
The moon bounces and slides were another big hit...
And so was the food.
Yum, snow cones.
And cotton candy.
My 2 girls even made an appearance in their red, white, and blue.
A fabulous panorama by Scott. Great job babe.
And another one he took. I let him have the tripod so he could do all the cool slow shutter stuff.
It was starting to get dark, and the lines for the moon bounces were getting a little longer (there were almost 20,000 people there)....
But that's okay -- the kids definitely entertained themselves while they waited their turn.
Finally -- a dark sky. And you know what that means.
Fireworks!! This is one of Scott's images.
And this is one of mine. How lucky that this mom and her two boys stood right in front of me!
I had such a great time photographing this event. This little girl's bike sums up my feelings in a nutshell.

A Lifestyle Session at it's Finest
07.02.10

I recently met up with another BEAUTIFUL family -- parents Jessica and Mike, their children Layla and Dominic, and their dogs Teeka and Ivan. I loved working with them, and I can't wait to share some of my favorite images. I called this blog "lifestyle at it's finest" because these are my favorite kind of images -- the kind that are so in the moment and show the most genuine love between parents and their kids (and furkids too!). Lifestyle photography has many definitions, but Wikipedia says it is a style of photography which uses modern techniques such as tight close-ups and shallow depths (as in depth of field) to produce images that are more expressive than traditional portraits. I had actually never googled the definition until today, but I have to say that I think these images fit it perfectly. Happy Friday!
Meet the adorable "J" family.
Little Layla will turn 3 this month. What a little beauty!
I have a ton of favorites of her, but there is something about this one on the tree that I really love. She is one gorgeous little girl.
And baby Dominic is 10 months. Could he be any cuter?!!!
It's easy to see where he gets those gorgeous blue eyes! What a stunning Mommy he has. After we did some relaxed portraits like these...
We really had fun with the candids. First a few with Dad.
The smiles don't get any more real.
Mike said that Dominic liked being upside down, and he really did! He laughed the whole time. Adorable!
Then some fun with Mom. Layla is loving it!
And so is Dominic!
A super cute shot of the kids together -- not always easy to get...
...but easier if you're clicking the shutter FAST. I never hesitate, because the moments that happen when you're waiting for the perfect moment are even more perfect. Love this!
Can't forget the furkids. This is Teeka, their Siberian Husky.
And this is Ivan, their Australian Shepherd.
They were soooo good, especially considering the heat, and I know that Jess and Mike will be so glad they decided to bring them along.
At the very end of the session, I suggested we do just a few of Jess and Mike together.
So we spent about 3 minutes and we were able to get some awesome shots! Jess and Mike made it easy.
To Jessica and Mike, thank you so much for asking me to do these photos for your family. I had so much fun and I hope you love these as much as I do. Hugs ~Kristine

My Beautiful Niece Viv
06.22.10

My brother Mark and his wife Jessica have the most beautiful 8-month old baby girl named Vivienne, and if you've read my blog before, then you may remember seeing her picture. I love taking pictures of my pretty little niece, but I've been so busy recently that it has been like 4 months since I've blogged any of her. The time just flies, and Viv is growing and changing so fast. So it was definitely time for an update. Here is what she's been up to lately. Enjoy!
Viv's bright eyes and smile totally melt your heart.
She is such a happy baby. I took about 80 photos of her playing in the exersaucer one day, so of course I couldn't pick just one. Though my favorite may be on the top left -- the one with the cute lip twist going on.
Viv was baptized on Mother's Day, so it was a very special day for our entire family. I'm pretty sure she loves my camera (look at the pose)!
And it definitely loves her...so instead of random pictures here and there, I decided we needed to do another session. Something a little more official...
...Something that would show the amazing love their family is blessed to know.
Happy belated 1st Father's Day to my handsome bro!
He is a lucky man to have these 2 beauties in his life.
So we were approaching morning nap time. Uh oh. What to do.
Good thing my singing makes her smile. This was just seconds later.
Viv, you are so so sweet!
On Sunday 6/27, Mark and Jess will celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
Last year, Viv was a tiny peanut in Jess's belly, and they couldn't wait to become parents. They were totally glowing, and it was by far the happiest day of their lives...
Until now. Mark and Jess, I am so proud of the marriage you have and the parents you are. You have a beautiful family and I love you all so much!

Mommy's Little Boy
06.15.10

Holly was referred to me by another client, and a couple of weeks ago she emailed me about getting pictures of her with her adorable 3-year old son, Jackson. She had seen my work, and she thought I could capture Jackson doing what 3-year olds do best -- run and play! We had an absolute blast at the park, and I was able to get both "natural portraits" and "real moments" -- something I strive for during every session, especially one with a 3-year old boy. I can hardly wait to share so here they are. Enjoy!
The moment I met Holly it was easy to see that she was so in love with her little man.
Isn't he so adorable!?! His little features are just perfect.
But it's easy to see where he gets it from. Mommy is beautiful!
And it's easy to see where she gets it from too. Holly's Mom, "Nana", also joined in for a few pictures. I think every girl should have a nice picture with her Mom.
Jackson loves his Nana. Too precious!
After getting some of the portraits out of the way, we let Jackson run the show. Literally. And that's when he forgot about the camera.
I'm so glad I could freeze these moments for Holly and Jackson, and Nana too.
Does this look like a kid having fun or what??
I'd say so. His laugh was so cute!
After a bunch of running, we found a big tree that Jackson could climb.
To be able to capture these natural smiles was the best. I never want a child to have to say "cheese".
To Jackson's Mom, Holly, thank you so much for trusting me to capture this moment in time for you. It was so great meeting you and your Mom...
...and of course sweet little Jackson. He is a dollbaby and I hope you love these as much as I do! Hugs! ~Kristine

Cousins + Parents + Grandparents
06.13.10

I recently had the chance to photograph the most adorable family of 9.
Brandy organized the session, and she and her husband Patrick have 2 beautiful boys, Tyler who is 4 and Aiden who is 11 months. Brandy's brother Allen and his wife Jacelyn have another beautiful boy, Cash (Tyler and Aiden's cousin), and he is 19 months. Throw in Brandy and Allen's parents (the boys' grandparents) and we have all 9. Oh, and Jacelyn and Allen are expecting a baby girl in September, so hopefully you'll be seeing more of this family (families) on the blog in the near future.
Here are a few of my early favorites as I am editing the whole shoot. Enjoy!
Meet gorgeous 4-year old Tyler...
His beautiful 19-month old cousin Cash with the sparkling eyes...
And the baby, Tyler's adorable little brother, Aiden.
Brandy mentioned wanting to capture the boys "in their element". And that meant exactly this. These boys are so close with their grandparents and it was so touching to witness.
I was also told that the pictures with "Pop" would be some of the favorites, so I made sure to capture some of him and his grandbabies.
They love him in a way that only a picture could describe. As in worth a thousand words.
He really makes them smile so genuinely. Love it!
We also got some great moments of the kids with their parents. Aiden loved being thrown in the air by his Mommy, Brandy.
And Tyler loved getting piggy back rides from Daddy, Patrick. I must have 5 versions of this shot - some looking at the camera, some not, but I just adore this one.
Cash and Mommy Jacelyn had a good time with the peeling tree...
And equally fun was time on the slide with his Daddy, Allen.
We even managed to get a few portraits. Such a sweet family shot!
But to get back to the kids... Brandy mentioned seeing some "eyelash pictures" I had on my blog, so I made sure to get some of her kids. Especially because her boys have AMAZING eyelashes. Here is Tyler from the side...
And Aiden from the front. Gorgeous!
Yes, these 3 cousins are beautiful, and they are reminding me that blogging is somewhat arbitrary. How do you choose what to share when you love them all?? :)
Thanks to the entire gang for asking me to capture these memories for you, and for braving the humidity. I had so much fun working with you and hope to see you all soon! Hugs! Kris

An Update on Julie's Battle with Breast Cancer
05.25.10

If you follow my blog, then I'm sure you remember Julie Rockey, one of my 2008 brides and now friends who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer -- at the young age of 30. I first posted about her diagnosis 2 months ago (to see that post click HERE), and I promised I would post an update for everyone, so here we go. Be prepared to smile.
Julie is currently going through chemo, and she expected to complete this milestone on July 12th. YAY!!! Doesn't she look so adorable in her wig?!?!
She asked me if we could get a few pictures with her favorite little person -- her nephew, Chase. What an amazing Aunt she is! Chase just loves his "Aunt Juicy".
Julie's husband Clint volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Julie recently mentioned this quote on her blog. It was too perfect for this photo so I couldn't help but repeat it...."One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child."
Julie knows I'm doing this blog, and she asked me to remind everyone that laughter is the best medicine.
Yep, we were having a good time. Julie's positive attitude is so contagious.
She and Clint have such a strong faith, and Julie truly believes that "God gave me breast cancer so that I could be a positive force in other people's lives".
In spite of everything they have going on, they don't let themselves have a bad day. They deal with their troubles for 5 minutes and figure out how to turn the lemons into sweet lemonade.
They are such an inspiring couple and I loved spending a morning with them. I walked away a better person.
So Julie Rockey, you continue to ROCK ON. We are all praying for you. To read more about Julie, you can visit her blog by clicking HERE.

One Week Old Wesley
05.17.10

I have been doing a lot of newborn sessions lately, and little Wesley is the youngest one yet. Just 7 days old. Sigh. He is soooooooo precious and he has the most adorable hair. His parents Tiffany and Travis were referred to me by another client (thanks Paige and Mike!), and I just loved working with them. I could tell that they were so excited about their pictures, and well, so am I. Here are a few favorites, though if I had the time I could blog the entire session. I love them that much.
Did I mention adorable hair?!! Wes is such a cutie! We started the session with some awake shots, and I was able to capture all his newborn expressions....
Like his yawns and even a sneeze as seen here. Darling.
Love this one of Wes with his beautiful Mommy. I'm amazed at his 1-week old eye contact. Impressive!
Soon it was off to sleepy land in Daddy's arms...
And then we were able to get so many fun images. Travis plays soccer, so this one is for him. Way too cute.
Couldn't resist those tiny feet with the soccer ball.
I think Wes set a record for number of times moved while sleeping during a newborn session. :-) We started with one of him curled up on a fun, colorful blanket.
And then we moved him to his little chair. Yes, that is a white tie that Tiffany and Travis picked up at the mall. This one makes me smile. Love it!
Then it was off to much larger furniture. This is one of my favorites of the favorites because it shows just how tiny he is.
This is the little pea pod I just got...
And this is a basket that was handmade by a good friend of Tiffany's.
As if things weren't going well already, we were even able to get a shot of Wes sleeping with his big brother, Hunter. So so sweet.
What a beautiful baby and family.
Tiffany and Travis, thank you for welcoming me into your home and for such an awesome session. Wes is too cute for words and I am so excited about your photos. Congratulations!!! ~Kris

Oh how the years go by...
05.12.10

I have been photographing Abby since she was a year old, and now she is 5. Oh how the years go by. Too fast. This was our 6th photo shoot -- (we have done one every year around her birthday in May and one time at Christmas) -- and I can't even begin to tell you how much I love photographing this beautiful little girl. I used to work with her mommy, Lyndell, and when I was back in PA 2 weeks ago for a corporate event, I was able to squeeze her in for a session.
Anyway, I absolutely adored Abby's 4-year old pictures (you can see those by clicking HERE). One of my good friends who is a photographer in North Carolina even told me it was her favorite session of mine EVER. And while that is such a compliment, I was a little scared I wouldn't be able to "top" them for her 5-year old photos. Well, I would say that blogging 17 (yes 17!) favorites means I pretty much love them. Yep, Abby gave me another favorite session, and hopefully her mommy will agree. Enjoy!
According to Lyndell, Abby was super excited to see me. She was also excited for her picture day, and this is the first frame I took.
She was so cute prancing all around for my camera.
The shoot started a little more "posed", and though these are still adorable and must-have kind of shots during any session...
...it was only about 10 minutes into the shoot that the headband came off and Abby became Abby. These are the serious model looks that only Abby can pull off. I mean seriously, she needs an agent.
I'm determined to find her one.
Every year we've been able to get some images of Abby with some flowers, so when we saw these beautiful azaleas, we had to stop.
You can't have Abby photos without a few silly ones! After all, these pictures aren't just about what she looks like, but who she is and her darling personality.
Ahhh, this is what I wanted.
Abby loves her Mommy and I love this picture of them hugging.
Love the smiling version too. I didn't ask her to smile here - it just popped out as I watched the moment happen and stood in complete silence.
Abby got changed into her pretty pink dress and thought it would be fun to climb trees.
I didn't object. This is a top 5 for me. Love it.
Hold on tight.
There's that gorgeous serious look. Stunning.
Here I'm shooting from above. I love interesting angles like this....
And if you're lucky these angles allow you to get an eyelash shot too.
To Abby's mommy Lyndell, thank you for trusting me with these memories year after year. I'm so glad it worked out to do her 5-year old pictures right around her birthday. I adore them, and I adore Abby! Hugs! ~Kristine
